There are innumerable ways to get your message across, and every week it seems like new methods come about. Some of them stand the test of time - newspapers, word of mouth and radio are three examples that have all lasted 100 years or more - and some of them fall by the wayside. The Internet is not going to go away, and thank goodness for that! Neither, we think, is the Podcast going to be a 7 day wonder.
A Podcast is simply a computer file containing audio information in the form of a radio broadcast. The name derives from the ubiquitous iPod, but whatever you choose to listen to Podcasts on - your computer hard disk, MP3 player or directly from the Internet - they are definitely going to be around for a while, and there are some excellent examples available to suit all tastes. For a good starting point, try The Guardian's Podcast page.
Not only are they portable, but Podcasts can be wonderfully liberating for people with visual impairments, a common issue amongst seniors. Joyce Emery - our very own Green Granny - was delighted to be asked to take part in a Podcast about her work with Green Seniors.
"My guest today is Joyce Emery, a resident of Ames Iowa, and a young senior who is walking her talk. Joyce has two websites, Green Granny and Green Seniors. She talks about her websites, what it’s like to get on a bicycle after several years, and about owning an RV that goes nowhere."
Veteran, but extremely sprightly journalist Max Lindberg has posted the Podcast on the excellent Green Options web site, as part of his Greening The Golden Years series. You can go to the blog entry or listen to the Podcast here.
Love this blog - thank you from over here in Sausalito. See Paul Hawken's new book, Blessed Unrest and, more importantly for the community-building you are doing, see his Wiser Earth site where like-minded green/social justice people can also find ways to support each other and savor their lives in their work together
Also see the innovative Green MBA program at Dominican University - another wonderful feature of living here in Marin
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words Kare.
Wiser Earth looks like an excellent site. We will add it to our links.

Thanks for the nod, Joyce and Keith! We're really happy with Max's podcast, and to give attention to "green seniors." With the elder population growing so quickly, we definitely need our elders involved in these issues...

Thank you, Joyce for the nice comments. It was a pleasure talking with you, and let's do it again sometime. Keep up the great work.
A note to everyone, read Paul Hawken's "Blessed Unrest", it's beautifully written with messages for anyone interested in preserving our home.
