Global Green Seniors

We have always been proud of our global outlook at Green Seniors. While we publish in English only, because it is the only language we are fluent in, we are always striving to make the web site accessible to as many people as possible.

In the last few weeks you may have noticed a Translate Green Seniors section on the left hand side. Thanks to a service called Google Translate, the web site can now be translated into 13 other languages, including French, Arabic, Mandarin and Spanish. If your browser allows scripts to run, then you should see the following in the Translate section:

By using the drop-down arrow you can select the language you would like the page to appear in, and you can even suggest improvements to the translation offered simply by clicking on a section of text.

But it is not just language that we try to improve on, we have tried hard to avoid cultural references that will not be familiar to people outside of the USA or the UK (our home countries), and always encourage input from people all around the world. If you know of any groups, networks or Green Heroes from any part of the world then we will feature them if they are inspirational enough.

The Green Senior message is a global message, and a simple one. If you love your planet and want there to be a future in which your descendants and all other life on Earth live sustainably together then you need to use the time, energy and influence you have to make that possible. There is no place for nationalism in this battle - the whole Earth has to win or nothing at all.

We Are One!

On 1 December 2006, the Green Seniors web site was launched, and with it a new movement that aimed to mobilize the Seniors of the world into fighting for a better environment for everyone and everything on Earth.

The job has only just started, but we are very happy to say that since we started, exactly one year ago today, we have had thousands of visitors and hundreds of e-mails. More importantly we have seen a global movement towards the desire for a better world which values our natural environment above the desire for wealth, property and power.

So much more has to happen before we see real change. The Bali Communique of 150 major companies calling for action on climate change still wants to retain economic growth; governments will not commit to any greenhouse gas cuts that will prevent runaway global warming; and people still drive, shop, fly and eat as though the Earth was an infinite resource.

Our life support system is dying. Green Seniors have to make ensure that everyone wakes up to that fact before it is too late. We have it in our power to make that happen.
